Brian Sharkey, CRNP

Description

Brian Sharkey is a nurse practitioner who specializes in the care of older adults at the Beacham Center for Geriatric Medicine. He focuses on polypharmacy (patients’ use of multiple prescription drugs), appropriate risk evaluations for surgeries, how patients can live and maintain their independence, and support of family members and caregivers to achieve patients’ goals.  Sharkey has extensive experience evaluating and treating older adults. Outside of Johns Hopkins, he has worked in nursing homes, a continuing care retirement community and a private practice setting. At Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center, he has worked for an inpatient geriatric consultation service and on a medical behavioral unit. Sharkey also supports instilling principles of geriatric care in nurse practitioner students who are training at Johns Hopkins.
