Nephrology Baltimore
Dr. Patel is a nephrologist and physician-scientist at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. After receiving her Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Engineering at the University of Pennsylvania, she matriculated into the Medical Scientist Training Program at Northwestern University, where she developed foundational clinical and research skills. Dr. Patel then completed Internal Medicine Residency and Nephrology Fellowship at Yale University, where she developed a passion for patient-centered care for people with chronic kidney disease (CKD). Dr. Patel joined the faculty at Johns Hopkins University in 2021 as an Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of Nephrology. She has since then led multiple research projects focused on delivering patient-centered care, namely in implementation of patient-reported outcome measures in routine nephrology care. She became the Associate Director for Ambulatory Services for the Division of Nephrology in 2025, supporting faculty and trainees to deliver high-quality care to patients with kidney disease. Dr. Patel additionally leads ambulatory dialysis education and experiences for nephrology trainees.
